Lynn Canyon on Cover of Lonely Planet

Lynn Canyon Park is certainly not a secret any longer. Featured on this year’s cover of the Lonely Planet Vancouver edition, you can bet many more visitors to Vancouver will take interest in the park. It’s a beautiful place with a fantastic suspension bridge attraction that should not be missed.

If you happen to pass through the park please stay safe on the trails and keep them clean.

After an absence of some years I returned to Lynn Valley for a visit to a much loved nature spot only to find it to be now overrun with tour groups with buggies, loudspeakers, and just general disregard for the natural environment. Add another 30 people to this photograph and you will be genuinely reproducing the new Lynn Valley experience.

    K. Murphy is kind of right. I live in Lynn Valley and rarely go to the canyon in summer any more.
It does depend on what you intend to do. If it’s a quick visit to the suspension bridge, it might have more people than the picture or maybe even a tour bus in the parking lot.

You can get the quieter experience if you get there quite early in the day.

On the other hand, most people who visit don’t walk that far and things will thin out if you take advantage of a walk on the trails. You can get down to the waterside on both sides of the creek .
If you are going to follow trails you do need a free map (yes you do). There is a link on this website.

As far as fall and winter goes, it isn’t summer busy at all.

One more thing. In summer you will find people jumping off the cliffs into the water. Don’t join in.
Every year they have to bring injured people up the trail to an ambulance. It doesn’t happen every day or every week but it happens. Just enjoy the water.
